Following a string of social media posts that hint at it, Italian supercar-maker Lamborghini has finally revealed its first NFT (non-fungible token) project. Space Key is a project that was created in collaboration with a non-disclosed artist and based on the latest carbon fiber composite materials, which were sent to the International Space Station as research material, is a new project that has been revealed by Lamborghini.

The Space Key is made from carbon fiber composite materials which Lamborghini shipped to the International Space Station in 2019 as part of research project. The carbon fiber was then transformed into an original artwork when it returned to Earth. The physical piece is engraved with an NFT serial number that is linked to the corresponding digital artwork via a QR code on the back.
NFTs for those not familiar, are unique identifiers that are recorded on a distributed ledger of the blockchain and connected to digital assets such as a photograph or video, song, or any other kind of record. This allows owners to ensure authenticity and traceability of their tokens on the internet.
Lamborghini takes this unique approach to art by collaborating with NFT PRO, white label NFT solution for business. In the coming months, Lamborghini will announce details about this exciting project. This includes the names of the unknown artists as well as a timeline for auction.

The heart of every Space Key is a block made of a high-tech carbon fire composite material that was shipped to the International Space Station in 2019 as part of a research program. Each of the five Space Keys features a different moment that takes place at different times when the Lamborghini Ultimae takes off towards the stars. More than 600 million pixels make up each of the five images, which were captured by photographer Fabian Oefner.
Oefner utilized an inflatable camera with an lens to take individual images, which were later combined into the final photo. The result is an image that is completely out of the world. It captures the beauty of Earth and the futuristic, hyperrealistic image of a car rising from the Earth. The Space Keys will be auctioned off in the near future, but the exact date and time of the event haven't been confirmed yet.
